“Do you believe in second chances?”
The other day when someone asked me that question, I wasn’t sure how exactly to respond.
So, do I believe in second chances? I do.
Call me dumb. Call me naive. Tell me I’m wasting my time. Oh well.
I believe in second chances because part of life is making mistakes. Part of life is being young and dumb and making bad choices. Every once in a while we come to a fork in the road and we have to take the path into the dark and scary forest to remind us to be thankful for the path filled with flowers and the sun.
We all make mistakes, make the wrong decisions, and we take the greatest things or people for granted.
If you’re lucky enough to earn that second chance, don’t take that second chance for granted. Take this opportunity you’ve been given to do better, to be better. Learn from your mistakes and don’t be dumb enough to repeat the past.
I may believe in second chances, but I don’t believe in third, fourth, or fifth.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
Making the same mistakes, the same decisions multiple times takes a conscious effort. At that point it goes from being a mistake to a choice.
Everyone deserves a second chance. Everyone deserves the opportunity to prove that they are better then theirmistake or a poor decision.
