If there is one thing people love in the south, it’s their college football.
The annual University of Florida vs. University of Georgia game pulls in fans from the depths of the two states in the battle for a year’s worth of bragging rights. This game is so important and so big that every year they play at EverBank field in Jacksonville, FL, home of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
For any college student in the state of Florida, this game is a chance to mix and mingle with other students from ever major and mid-major college and university in the state because people come out of the woodworks for this game.
Now up north, for football tailgates, we wear jeans, tshirts, and maybe the occasional pair of striped overalls. Down south? Tailgating is a fashion affair.
I was surrounded by a sea of lace and chiffon rompers, suede dresses and skirts, chunky heels and wedges, and all the cowgirl boots you could imagine.
It seemed a little silly to get all dressed up to go and run around in dirt and mud lots for four hours, but hey, it was all worth it because Florida beat Georgia.
